ABOUT

Allyssa is a Chicago-based pop culture writer + critic. She holds a B.A. in Journalism as well as a Minor in Radio, TV, & New Media from DePaul University (2016). Her work explores the sociopolitical implications of the popular culture that we consume, specifically in terms of race, gender + gender identity, LGBTQIA+ issues, and mental health.

She is a former professional wrestling academic, and has been featured on panels at the Midwest Pop Culture Association (MPCA) annual conference and Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) to discuss women’s wrestling. She wrote a bi-weekly women’s wrestling column on the Professional Wrestling Studies Association (PWSA) for 3 years. Since ending the column, Allyssa has had bylines at Screen Rant, What To Watch, The Take on YouTube, and Catapult Magazine. She is curretly accepting new clients.

Outside of writing, Allyssa has countless hobbies and interests. She loves restaurant and wine culture, weight training and yoga, burlesque, astrology, and herbalism among many other things. She’s also funny as hell. No one has sharper wit!
